Define your goals

We recommend setting and defining what your goals are for this launch. Below are some KPIs you can use as examples:

  • This may be one of the most time-consuming yet rewarding things you can do.

    • Sharing your roadmap, tasks, small wins, failures, thoughts, and general growth on a daily/weekly basis will help your audience feel like they know you and your brand.

    You want to try to provide value and enable your audience and potential users to ‘grow’ with you, generate excitement, and leverage your knowledge as well. This will produce a loyal and engaged following.

    Twitter is a great place to get started and probably the most recommended. However, this can also occur on other platforms, such as LinkedIn, GitHub, and Facebook, depending on where you have the highest engagement and audience.

    As you start building in public, you will naturally find which platform works best for your product. If using Twitter, a good tip is to create a Twitter thread about your Product Hunt launch, pin it to your profile, and make sure to post regularly.

    You can also use Tweetdeck* to follow conversations on your topics.

  • Push content

    No matter your chosen platform, you will want to portray a story.

    1. It’s always a good idea to start with ‘Why?’ and, if applicable, the problems you are seeking to solve. This is engaging to your current users and potential new users.
    2. Name your favorite feature(s) and ask your users what theirs are and why.
    3. Share bloopers or fails - it makes you and your product more relatable. (Videos can also be helpful).
    4. Share some best practices of how your users can incorporate features easier
    5. Engage with your users and ask them how they used your product today and how it has helped them.
    6. Share use cases or case studies. This can also be a good time to gather testimonials
    7. Ask your users to engage on (like) your post if they would recommend the product to friends/family.
